To the Cape we go...

Monday morning too early, we had to be up at 4:45 AM! Our flights of King Shaka airport at seven so we had to get to the airport return the car and have breakfast, we were tired before we were even left Natal! On the flight to PE Danica and I both had a nap while Frank and Delaney not so much! We landed at "Port Elizabeth International Airport" just after nine and were at Avis and off in a flash.  The road signage in SA is amazing we have no problem find where we are going - but have also got a wifi hot spot that we rented to help us get to the hotels etc.  We were on the N2 and south bound- before we knew it Jeffrey's Bay was on us- we headed down to the beach- past the huge tents for the J-bay surfing competition (although today was a lay day as the waves were flat!) I had heard of a little restaurant on the beach that was supposed to be incredible -so off we headed on search of Kitchen Windows a perfect location on the beach.  We ordered lunch and sat ocean gazing- my lion fish was delicious as was Dani's pizza, Frank's salad and Delaney's pasta.  Then we were on the road again- so much to see on this short trip- 2.5 hours to our destination of the night.  Back on the N2 and the next stop was the Storms river bridge - there is big complex here - we stopped for a coffee and a quick walk under the bridge- shew is it high up.  Back in the car and 3km down the road we stopped at the largest yellowwood tree in the world- we were now in Tsitsikama.  We reached the tree we all entry and had to pay to get in- the price for foreigners was triple that of a loca- of course I pretended I was a local- R54 was a little easier to swallow to go see a tree.  The walkway up to the tree- one could very well be walking in a BC forest not much changes in a forest no matter where you are. We got to the big tree and although it is pretty huge the redwoods in California are so much bigger- but it was a lovely walk.  Back at the car and a quick hop down the highway to the storms river suspension bridges. Once again we had to pay to get in- not too cheap all these sites- this was about $20 to get in.  There was a ton of construction going on at the gate so we entered and went along the dirt road for a ways- this is a crazy road for tourists we couldn't believe the size of the potholes- and we are driving a Toyota Corrolla.  The road suddenly ended at the bottle recycling depot?? We got out and asked the guy how to get to the bridges- turns out we took the wrong road and had to head all the way to back to the gate- thanks people at the gate who we had to pay for not directing us to the correct place!  Now finally on the road down- we were greated with breathtaking ocean views- this road was paved by the way.  Then at the parking lot we exited and off to the suspension bridges- lots of stairs up and down- but the 1km walk ended in a truly amazing experience.  We walked over the Storms River mouth and just seeing the beauty all around was an experience.  Then it was back as we had about an hour to go to Plett and it was getting dark. Frank and the girls decided to run back while I took my time.  Back in the parking lot there were Dassies and birds everywhere.  4 o'clock and we had to get to Plett before dark- the roads are so dark at night- we made it into Plettenberg Bay just before sunset- made our way to The Robberg Hotel and checked in. WOW!  What a gorgeous location and the room was huge and so beautiful.  We settled in and then had a taxi come and pick us up for dinner- the area is so hilly and dark and Frank was done driving for the day.  We went to the Lookout for dinner- the food was very good- lobster bisque and prawns ended off my seafood day! Our driver picked us up again - Granville was born and raised or Plett- a cool guy.  Turns out he knows Denise in town - who I went to school with and  owns a pizza joint in town (small world)! Back to the hotel and too bed- we were so tired.
