Bridge Monday.

Monday we awoke to a cloudy, chilly Monday, but we were in search of the bus to the Golden Gate Bridge, a long walk later we found a bus that would take us there. We were dropped in the parking lot and started walking over the bridge- a chilly walk, but so beautiful. We walked to the half way mark and the back. In the parking lot we discovered there is a free shuttle that wold take us through the Presidio. We caught this and off at the Palace of the Fine Arts- we explored this pretty amazing structure.

"The Palace of Fine Arts in the Marina District of San Francisco, California, is a monumental structure originally constructed for the 1915 Panama-Pacific Exposition in order to exhibit works of art presented there. One of only a few surviving structures from the Exposition, it is the only one still situated on its original site. It was rebuilt in 1965, and renovation of the lagoon, walkways, and a seismic retrofit were completed in early 2009."

We then figured we were close to Barney's Burgers- they are supposed to be the bomb. A little bit of a walk and we were there- Chestnut Street area- or Cowhollow. A great looking area to do some shopping- we will have to come back here one day. Then we found the bus back to the hotel and a much needed rest- we were so exhausted today- must have been all that walking.

After a rest, we -sans Elliot- headed back to Market Street via the F street car, as Frank wanted to go back and buy a hoodie had seen at Superdry. So we walked to the bus stop, only to wait for a while, as there was a power outage on the wharf (our hotel too was out for about 3 hours!)

We got up to Union square did some more shopping and then caught the bus over to the Mission District. We were on the hunt for the incredible street art in this area- we happened into some cool boutique stores along the way too. We found Clarion Alley and wow! Some pretty amazing art.

After a good browse, we happened upon El Techo de Lolinda- this place had come highly recommended so we headed up to the rooftop restaurant for dinner. This was the best meal we had while here- the CHICHARRONES de CARNE - roasted and fried chunks of pork-shoulder with house made tortillas, lime, salsa-to die for!!  Then we caught the bus back to the hotel- it was late and we had to pack, for tomorrow am we leave.
Sad to go, but another great visit to this city.
